Old Louisville is one of the largest Victorian neighborhoods in the country—and, by many accounts, the most haunted. Wherever you walk, a ghost story is never far away. In recent decades, supernatural tales emerging from its mansions, Gothic churches, quiet corners, and leafy parks have attracted throngs of visitors from around the world. What they discover is haunted history set against a backdrop of atmospheric 19th-century architecture.

Our Louisville ghost tours run nightly, and participants are treated to a good dose of local history as they meander past glowing gas lamps and into secret walking courts. Designed to be both entertaining and educational, our ghost walks don’t involve jump scares or gore.

The writer whose own spooky Old Louisville house turned him into a ghost-tour guide and the bestselling chronicler of the neighborhood’s spirited history across numerous books.
David Dominé penned the bestselling Old Louisville ghost trilogy, Ghosts of Old Louisville, Phantoms of Old Louisville, and Haunts of Old Louisville—and then the updated compilation True Ghost Stories and Eerie Legends from America’s Most Haunted Neighborhood, the book that Louisville Ghost Tours are based on. It started with a poltergeist named Lucy in his own Victorian home and the footsteps and unexplained odors that drove him out one night. The subsequent search for answers made him the city’s leading collector of its hauntings.

Where do the Louisville Ghost Tours Meet?
We do not have a brick and mortar location. Unless otherwise stated, all Louisville ghost tours start at the brown “Filson Historical Society” sign at the southeast corner of South Fourth Street and West Ormsby Avenue, one block north of Central Park. This is a mile straight down the road from the famous Brown Hotel. We meet at the back side of the Filson Historical Society. Do not go to the main entrance on South Third Street.

How much is the Louisville Ghost Tour?
General Public tickets are $30 per person. Last-minute reservations are usually not a problem, and tours run rain or shine. Exclusive private tours run $150 for groups of 1-5, with pricing available for groups up to 20.
Is Old Louisville really haunted?
Old Louisville has gathered so many reports of supernatural activity over the past two decades that it is widely described as the most haunted neighborhood in America. The ghost tour introduces you to the mansions, walking courts, and corners at the center of those stories.
Can I walk to the Old Louisville ghost tour from downtown Louisville?
We do not recommend walking from downtown Louisville because of the long stretch of transitional blocks. If you’re staying at popular hotels such as the Galt House, Omni, or the Seelbach, you will have to walk almost two miles each way. Uber and Lyft are easy options.
What if it rains?
Tours run rain or shine. We recommend bringing an umbrella. In the rare case of severe weather, we’ll contact you to reschedule. If we have to cancel due to inclement conditions, and you cannot reschedule, your tickets will be refunded.
How long is the ghost tour and how much walking is involved?
The Old Louisville Ghost Tour covers approximately 1.5 miles at a relaxed pace and lasts up to two hours. There are several stops along the way where your guide will pause to tell stories about each location, so you won’t be walking continuously the whole time. Please keep in mind that there are generally no restrooms along the way.
Is the ghost tour kid-friendly?
The tour is a walking history-and-folklore experience suitable for most ages, though some stories deal with death and the macabre. Parents know their kids best. Call (502) 718-2764 if you have questions about a specific group.
Is the tour accessible for wheelchairs or strollers?
Yes. Most of the route is wheelchair and stroller accessible, though some sidewalk sections in the historic district are bumpy and uneven. The Louisville walking tour route uses public sidewalks throughout Old Louisville and does not go up any steps. If you have specific accessibility questions, call us at (502) 718-2764 before booking and we’ll help plan the best experience for your group.
Please be reminded that this is a walking tour. If you rely on a cane or walker, this is not the tour for you. If you book one of our private tour options, however, the guide can easily tailor the tour to fit your pace.
Are there lunch or dinner spots near the Old Louisville ghost tours?
Yes! One of our favorites is Buck’s Restaurant, located just half a block from the tour departure point. Buck’s is known for its elegant atmosphere and eclectic Kentucky-inspired cuisine. It is open for lunch Monday through Friday and dinner six nights a week (closed Sundays). For a more casual option, Old Louisville Tavern is just three blocks away. A neighborhood favorite, it’s open seven days a week beginning at 11:00 am and offers burgers, sandwiches, salads, and a full bar.
Are there places to stay near the Old Louisville ghost tours?
Absolutely! Old Louisville is home to nearly a dozen charming bed-and-breakfast inns, many housed in beautifully restored Victorian mansions. Popular choices include the DuPont Mansion, Louisville Bourbon Inn, Inn at Central Park, Old Louisville Fleur de Lis B&B, Samuel Culbertson Mansion, Inn at St James Court, and the Bourbon Barrel Inn. Staying in Old Louisville lets you experience one of America’s largest Victorian neighborhoods on foot and places you just minutes from our walking tours.
What's your cancellation policy?
Cancelation policies vary depending on third-party ticketing sites, but tickets are generally non-refundable, so treat them as you would concert or theater tickets.
If you have to miss your scheduled tour, your tickets stay active for a year, however, and you may reschedule at no extra charge to a more convenient time and date depending on availability and advance notice. Tours canceled due to weather are always refundable or eligible for rescheduling. Tickets are transferable, as well.
