Louisville Walking Tours Through Old Louisville's Victorian Heart
Old Louisville is one of the largest Victorian neighborhoods in America and one of its largest historic preservation districts. Just south of downtown, more than a thousand 19th-century structures spread across roughly 40 square blocks in styles ranging from Italianate and Richardsonian Romanesque to Châteauesque and Beaux-Arts. The streetscape has barely changed since the 1880s.
Our Louisville walking tours have run since 2004, led by bestselling author David Dominé or one of his hand-picked historians. The narrated stroll covers about 1.5 miles at a leisurely pace and runs up to two hours, with stops at the Conrad-Caldwell House, the Witches’ Tree, St. James Court, Floral Terrace, Belgravia Court, Millionaires Row, and Central Park.
You will hear the stories that never make it onto the plaques: the bourbon barons, racetrack royalty, and tobacco titans who built these mansions, the architectural rivalries between them, and the legends that have clung to certain addresses for more than a century.

Where do the Old Louisville Walking Tours Meet?
We currently do not have a brick-and-mortar location. The Original Old Louisville Walking Tours start at the low, brown “Welcome to Old Louisville” sign at the southwest corner of South Fourth Street and West Ormsby Avenue, one block north of Central Park. This is the corner outside the Ollie Green Professional Office Building. Use “1300 S 4th St, Louisville, KY 40208” as a GPS point to help you arrive, but DO NOT ENTER the building.

Tours run rain or shine. We recommend bringing an umbrella. In the rare case of severe weather, we’ll contact you to reschedule. If we have to cancel due to inclement conditions, and you cannot reschedule, your tickets will be refunded.
Is the tour accessible for wheelchairs or strollers?
Yes. Most of the route is wheelchair and stroller accessible, though some sidewalk sections in the historic district are bumpy and uneven. The Louisville walking tour route uses public sidewalks throughout Old Louisville and does not go up any steps. If you have specific accessibility questions, call us at (502) 718-2764 before booking and we’ll help plan the best experience for your group.
Please be reminded that this is a walking tour. If you rely on a cane or walker, this is not the tour for you. If you book one of our private tour options, however, the guide can easily tailor the tour to fit your pace.
How much walking is involved?
The Louisville walking tour covers approximately 1.5 miles over up to two hours at a relaxed pace. There are several stops along the way where your guide will pause to tell stories about each location, so you won’t be walking continuously the whole time. Please keep in mind that there are generally no restrooms along the way.
Can I walk to the ORIGINAL Old Louisville Walking Tour from downtown Louisville?
We do not recommend walking from downtown Louisville because of the long stretch of transitional blocks. If you’re staying at popular hotels such as the Galt House, Omni, or the Seelbach, you will have to walk almost two miles each way. Uber and Lyft are easy options.
Are there lunch or dinner spots near the Old Louisville walking tours?
Yes! One of our favorites is Buck’s Restaurant, located just half a block from the tour departure point. Buck’s is known for its elegant atmosphere and eclectic Kentucky-inspired cuisine. It is open for lunch Monday through Friday and dinner six nights a week (closed Sundays). For a more casual option, Old Louisville Tavern is just three blocks away. A neighborhood favorite, it’s open seven days a week beginning at 11:00 am and offers burgers, sandwiches, salads, and a full bar.

What's your cancellation policy?
Cancellation policies vary depending on third-party ticketing sites, but tickets are generally non-refundable, so treat them as you would concert or theater tickets. If you have to miss your scheduled tour, your tickets stay active for a year, however, and you may reschedule at no extra charge to a more convenient time and date, depending on availability and advance notice. Tours canceled due to weather are always refundable or eligible for rescheduling. Tickets are transferable, as well.
